Meet Dalton: Business Manager

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Sure! I was born & raised in Hickory, NC! I went to UNC Chapel Hill, where I got my bachelor's degree & Wake Forest University where I got my master’s degree. In my free time, you can often find me watching UNC sports, collecting watches, or hanging out with my friends & family.

How long have you been with Oz’s Jewelers & what roles have you held?

I started with the store in November of 2019 as a part-time seasonal sales associate, & they haven’t gotten rid of me yet! As time progressed, I became the Creative Director of Oz’s Jewelers & now serve as the Business Manager for the store.

You’ve recently moved into a new position, tell us about your new role?

As you may know, I recently graduated from Wake Forest University’s School of Business with my master’s degree. I was honored when Oz & Brenda asked me to come back & be their business manager! I’ll get to oversee various aspects of the business & I love to hear feedback from customers for what they would like to see in the store!

What keeps you motivated?

I find motivation through various channels to sustain my drive & enthusiasm. Firstly, my commitment to personal growth acts as a catalyst, propelling me forward as I strive to expand my knowledge & skills. Secondly, a profound sense of purpose infuses my actions with meaning, anchoring me to values that guide my journey. Thirdly, setting clear, achievable goals provides a roadmap that keeps me focused & energized, celebrating each milestone achieved along the way. Moreover, my passion for what I do ignites an intrinsic motivation, making every endeavor a labor of love. Additionally, the prospect of making a positive impact, whether big or small, inspires me to push beyond my limits & contribute meaningfully to the world. Finally, maintaining a balance between work, rest, & play ensures that I remain motivated & resilient, nurturing both my productivity & well-being.

Do you have a favorite spot in Hickory, NC?

I recently ventured out to Cowa Sake, & I have to say, it’s quickly become one of my favorites!

What’s your jewelry philosophy?

“I have enough jewelry... said no one ever!”

What does your ideal Saturday look like?

My ideal Saturday likely involves some sort of day trip or an early morning trip to the airport to start my next adventure!

What’s your favorite piece of jewelry you already own?

Even though we don’t currently sell watches, I have a real love for watches. Some of my favorites are my Pulsar, my Hamilton, & my Tag Heuer, just to name a few. The Pulsar was purchased at Oz’s Jewelers where Karen helped my parents & me pick it out for my confirmation gift back in roughly 2017. The 14kt Yellow Gold Hamilton was a special gift to me from Oz & Brenda! & the Tag Heuer Formula 1 was a special graduation gift from my parents when I graduated from Wake Forest University!

Any Oz’s pieces you have your eye on?

There’s a really cool gold bracelet that very well may have my name on it before too long...

When you aren’t cheering on your Tar Heels, who is your favorite team?

Easy – Whoever is playing Duke!
